Germany Accuses Russia of Election Meddling Through Cyber-Attacks

Germany has accused Russia of attempting to influence its upcoming general election through a wave of cyber-attacks. The German Foreign Ministry said it had "reliable information" that hackers working for Russia's GRU military intelligence service tried to steal login details of federal and state lawmakers. Authorities Arrest Another TrickBot Gang Member in South Korea

Another alleged member of the TrickBot gang has been apprehended, this time when trying to leave South Korea, according to published reports. The Russian national, who is an alleged developer of the notorious crimeware, reportedly had been trapped in South Korea since February 2020 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Seoul-based news outlet KBS News reported that the individual, identified only as "Mr A", was arrested at a South Korea airport last week. READ MORE...

Netgear fixes severe security bugs in over a dozen smart switches

Netgear has released firmware updates for more than a dozen of its smart switches used on corporate networks to address high-severity vulnerabilities. The company fixed three security flaws that affect 20 Netgear products, mostly smart switches. Technical details and proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit code for two of the bugs are publicly available. Many of the affected products are smart switches, some of them with cloud management capabilities that allow configuring and monitoring them over the web. READ MORE...

Ransomware gang threatens to leak data if victim contacts FBI, police

The Ragnar Locker ransomware group is warning that they will leak stolen data from victims that contact law enforcement authorities, like the FBI. Ragnar Locker has previously hit prominent companies with ransomware attacks, demanding millions of dollars in ransom payments. In an announcement published on Ragnar Locker's darknet leak site this week, the group is threatening to publish full data of victims who seek the help of law enforcement and investigative agencies following a ransomware attack.
